If I Could Just Take a Moment

And be all “political” here.

The people in charge of our country kind of scare me. I’m a Democrat and I have zero illusions about my party’s piety, ability to be dumb, criminal, etc., but the goofballs running the show right now are pretty frightening.

To wit:

Scooter Libby goes free today thanks to President Bush. And whether or not you believe his sentence was over the top and didn’t fit the crime, let us NOT forget that SOMEONE leaked Valerie Plame’s name to the press and that person committed a felony in doing so. And NO ONE has been “brought to justice” for that crime. Our man Scooter was convicted for lying to the Federales, not the leak.

Anyway, I’ve been reading this profile of Vice-President Cheney here. Seriously, the man is a monocle and white cat in his lap away from being a bad James Bond villain.

This is me, all antsy for January, 2009, just for the change of pace.

1. Can’t anyone think up a good reason to impeach Cheney?  How about that 4th branch of government nonsense?

   As for Libby, you could see it coming a mile away, but I’m still upset.  At this point, Bush has hit rock-bottom, and there’s no downside to doing whatever the hell he wants.  So he’ll run the country into the ground until someone takes the keys away from him.

   Can’t anyone think up a good reason to impeach Bush?

3. I’ve got 15, or so, upper division college credits in the history of political marketing (all you really need to know is that its ALWAYS been a cesspool) and I’ve worked on campaigns, so there’s no need to be apologetic about going, “all political” around me.

   I think it’s helpful that the normally non-political are starting to chime in and will help to build a better world after the current knuckle heads have vacated the White House.

4. Matt, I’d have thought that the “smoking gun” might have been AN ACTUAL smoking gun when he shot a man in the face, but nope, the man is UN-touchable. Still amazed about that. The victim apologized to Cheney for all of that.

   Amazing.

   Really, didn’t we have a revolution to get rid of a monarchy? Not that I’m saying a revolution is in order (I don’t want to end up on a list somewhere), but it does seem like the current folks are operating much as a monarchy with all power centralized might do.

   Shameful.

Really, I'm glad you made it down here. Almost no one ever comes down here. I'm like in a freaking dungeon down here. I get lonely. But not you. YOU made it all the way to the end of the page. For this I think I've a little crush on you. I don't know, is "love" to strong a word to use in this situation? Well, if it's not "love," then it's very strong "like." I'm totally in like with you for coming down here. You are awesome. Please love me back! I know, I know, I shouldn't be all needy, it's not attractive at all, but you don't know how it is to be stuck down here. Who scrolls all the way to the end of a page anymore these days?
